We are TotalCardiology
The largest private cardiology practice in Canada.
Since our founding as a two-physician practice – Cardiology Consultants – by Dr. John Morgan and Dr. Donald Meldrum in 1976, TotalCardiology has grown into the largest group of board-certified cardiologists/cardiovascular specialists in Canada – today with 22 cardiologists.
With a dedicated, multidisciplinary team of over 125 staff members ranging from allied health care professionals and educators to clinic researchers and administrators, our cardiologists deliver rapid and comprehensive cardiology consultation, leading-edge cardio-diagnostic tests, research, and rehabilitation services.
The trusted experts for diagnosing and treating heart disease
Cardiology is a complex field. Following medical school and postgraduate training in Internal Medicine, cardiologists spend an additional three to five years studying conditions specific to the heart, blood vessels and circulation. This specialized training ensures we have the expertise to properly diagnose and treat diseases of the cardiovascular system, as well as some lung conditions related to the heart.
Cardiologists also receive additional training in cardiac diagnostic testing/imaging and interpretation.
Choosing Wisely® is a campaign subscribed to by prominent cardiovascular societies that aims to promote "the right care for the right patient provided by the right expert at the right time in the right place".
Our cardiologists are trained to select the most appropriate diagnostic testing which can sometimes mean no tests at all.
Heart disease can be difficult to recognize. Sometimes symptoms can be incorrectly diagnosed as heart disease when they are not, causing unnecessary worry and testing. Referring directly to a cardiologist helps to avoid unnecessary delays and ensures the right care at the right time.
The cardiologists at TotalCardiology have been a cornerstone in community-based cardiac care for almost three decades. Our innovative RACC™ cardiology clinic now offers a unique approach to deal with potential heart issues in a comprehensive way.
